Hannah's 8th Birthday Party

Hannah celebrated her 8th birthday complete with a beauty pageant, sleepover with friends from school, bowling and the typical cake (Carey made a delicious ice cream cake) and presents. There were many giggles and smiles as the girls did not want to go to sleep (they probably succumbed at around 1 am). As a tribute to my daughter on this special day, I wrote her a haiku. A haiku, according to Google, is: "a 17-syllable verse form consisting of three metrical units of 5, 7, and 5 syllables." I remember when I was about her age having an assignment in school to write a haiku. (I know the last line has 6 syllables...I probably didn't do much better in grade school).

My blue-eyed princess
Always daddy's little girl
Playful, thoughtful, shining

The Andes at Sunset

Looking from our driveway, the sunset against the Andes mountains on the east side of Santiago. Palm trees and snow in August, it is still hard for us to get used to after 6 years of living in Chile!

The First Holmfront Blog

Greetings from Santiago, Chile! We are the Holm family and we've joined the blogging community (we've always been a little slow). We hope through this blog to keep people posted on what is happening with our family as we live down here at the "end of the world" and as we continue on the adventure we are living as God is transforming our lives and the lives of those who live in this long, thin country.
